Seuss Landing at Islands of Adventure

Probably best described as a 12-acre, walk-through sculpture, Seuss Landing adds a third dimension and giddy Technicolor to the wonderfully wacky world of Theodor Geisel, a.k.a. Dr. Seuss, whose dozens of illustrated books of inspired poetry have enchanted millions of children.

The Cat in the Hat

Go for a spin with The Cat in the Hat as you ride your couch through the pages of Dr. Seuss's, best-loved children's book. This delightful ride takes the story of The Cat in the Hat and re-creates it scene for scene.

Dr. Seuss’s most popular book tells the tale of what happens when two kids, home alone, allow the cat of the title to come in for a visit. Step through the doors beneath that giant red and white striped top hat and you will get your chance to relive the adventure. The story of the Cat in the Hat is played out with some impressive animatronics, computer generated graphics and cars that spin round and round.   Warning:  Don't eat right before going on this ride.

One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish

Dr. Seuss' delightful children's book comes to life in this ride that kids (and parents) will love. Climb aboard One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and take the controls as you steer your colorful fish up, up, up and down, down, down.

One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish puts visitors in cars that encircle a single hub, flying up and down while happy music plays in the background. Unlike its predecessors, here riders can get wet, soaked even. Fish squirt water from above, below, beside and every direction in between. The music helps you avoid wettest spots, telling you to fly high or low at various times... but you can't escape the water forever!

Caro-Seuss-el

You'll find an array of unusual creatures from the imagination of Dr. Seuss on this one-of-a-kind carousel.

You'll find an array of unusual creatures from the imagination of Dr. Seuss on this one-of-a-kind carousel.

Not your typical carousel, the colorful Caro-Seuss-El features all of your favorite animals (54 in all!) from such classic Dr. Seuss stories as One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish and If I Ran the Zoo, as well as Horton Hears a Who! Pull on the reins and let these unique animals (which include elephant birds, cowfish, dog-a-lopes and mulligatawnies) interact with you during this whimsical carousel ride.

The Caro-Seuss-El lies in the heart of Seuss Landing – adjacent to If I Ran the Zoo and across from both The Cat in the Hat and One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. Dining options near the Caro-Seuss-El include Circus McGurkus Café Stoo-pendous and Green Eggs and Ham Café.

If I ran the Zoo

"If I ran the zoo," said young Gerald McGrew. "I'd make a few changes. That's just what I'd do."

If I ran the Zoo

Based on the classic Dr. Seuss tale, If I Ran the Zoo, this wacky play area (hosted by none other than Gerald McGrew!) includes such interactive elements as shooting water fountains, tunnels, slides and water cannons, along with a few faithful reproductions of some classic Seussian characters.

If I Ran the Zoo lies adjacent to the Caro-Seuss-El near the entrance of Seuss Landing, which is located to the right of the Port of Entry to Universal's Islands of Adventure.

Area Shops

Cats, Hats and Things
It is impossible to miss the cheerful Cats, Hats and Things if you take the Cat in the Hat ride, but even if you don’t, you might want to pop in for a quick look. Here you’ll find plenty of souvenirs and clothing commemorating the famous cat, as well as Things 1 and 2. You’ll also find the actual book that inspired the ride. My favorite is the Cat’s trademark striped stovepipe hat.

All The Books You Can Read
Even though it’s called Dr. Seuss’s All the Books You Can Read, most of the space here is given over to clothing, mugs, and plastic glasses. Fortunately, there are a few books and this happy, kid-scaled place is a great way to introduce your little ones to the magic of Seuss and reading in general. Books range from small single volumes to fairly expensive collections. You’ll find videos, DVDs, CDs, and cloth and non-toxic plastic baby books. The shop offers some kid-sized places to sit down and read.

Snookers and Snookers Sweet Candy Cookers
Candy and more.

Mulberry Street Store
The Mulberry Street Store is the megastore of Seuss Landing, with its very own kid-sized entrance, and the tag line “Gizmos, Gadgets, Goodies Galore” pretty much sums it up. Here you’ll find a large selection of Seuss wear for everyone in the family from the littlest tykes all the way to the grown-ups, who will find cotton p.j.s here. There are toys, nice jackets decorated with Seuss characters, and lots of infants’ clothing, as well as games, books, and backpacks. Among the more intriguing gifts are some lovely limited-edition, hand-pulled Seuss lithographs and other artwork at prices approaching $1,000.
