Universal Studios San Francisco

This section has two distinct themes: that of a mature coastal city and that of a seasonal tourist town in New England. Within the San Francisco portion of this area lie one show and one attraction. Opening in 1992, Beetlejuice's Rock and Roll Graveyard Revue is a live show featuring some of Universal's classic monsters, including Frankenstein, Dracula, the Bride of Frankenstein, and Wolfman. Outside of performance times, guests have the opportunity to meet Beetlejuice. The most recent addition was that of Disaster!: A Major Motion Picture Ride...Starring You!. This attraction puts guests in the middle of a new Disaster movie made by fictional company Disaster Studios. It opened in January 2008 and features a merchandise store, named Disaster! Studios Gifts. In homage to the previous Earthquake: The Big One attraction (which Disaster! replaced), the Richter's Burger Company dining outlet has remained open.

San Francisco - Universal Studios Florida - A Complete Guide to Universal Studios Florida

The Amity section of this area is home to Jaws where guests are put aboard Captain Jake's Amity Boat Tours. The ride takes guests on a journey around the island of Amity, hoping to avoid the menace known as JAWS. Due to popularity, the ride opened in 1990 as an extended version of the original staged event on the Studio Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood. A gift shop entitled Quint's Surf Shack is located nearby the ride. Fear Factor Live is a live stunt show that puts real park guests into the action of the former NBC series, Fear Factor. It opened in 2005 with a merchandise shop named Fear Factor Gear.

Disaster! A Major Motion Picture Ride Starring...YOU!

Disaster! A Major Motion Picture Ride Starring...YOU!

Go behind the scenes at Disaster Studios and learn the secrets of disaster films from the "Master of Mayhem" himself, writer/producer/director/studio executive/self-proclaimed genius Frank Kincaid.

You'll see scenes from some of Hollywood's biggest movies and witness live demonstrations that show you how many of the most amazing stunts and special effects were created. You might even get the chance to play a part in Mr. Kincaid's latest film currently in production.

Then you'll board a San Francisco subway car for your big chance to be an extra in the climactic special effects finale of Mr. Kincaid's film. You'll experience a cataclysmic earthquake that causes the ground above you to open up and rain down huge chunks of concrete debris. Pillars crumble, trucks crash and explode in flames, a runaway train heads right for you and 65,000 gallons of water flood the underground station. Be sure to watch the exciting movie trailer at the end of the scene, as you may just be making your big screen debut!

A leisurely boat ride turns into a reenactment of the movie Jaws as a 32-foot Great White approaches your boat.

A giant fin slices through the waves. Your boat begins rocking back and forth. Suddenly he lunges out of the water... row upon row of razor sharp teeth. Everyone thought he'd been destroyed, but now he's back. And this time, you're in the water WITH him!

Based on the book, this attraction starts off taking you on a boat ride through Amity.  Before long, it's apparent a shark is loose in the water.

Eventually, your boat is attacked by a great white which emerges from the water and attacks either side of the boat.  Keep this in mind if you are visiting with children and are not sure how they will react.  If this is the case, keep them away from the outside of the boat, as the shark comes RIGHT UP to you.  Also, depending on where you are seated, you may get wet, so keep cameras, etc protected.

Beetlejuice's Graveyard Revue

This musical and dance show features all of Universal's Monsters such as

Say his name three times – BEETLEJUICE! BEETLEJUICE! BEETLEJUICE! – and get ready to meet that wisecracking wacko from the underworld, BEETLEJUICE "live" and in person. Everyone's favorite ghost with the most is your host for this raucous rock 'n' roll revue featuring Universal's classic monsters.

In addition to Beetlejuice, the show features the Wolfman, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, Dracula and Phantom of the Opera, performing covers of classic rock songs.  This is an outdoor amphitheater in full sun, and on hot days, should be avoided. Other than that, it is a good excuse to sit down and relax after walking through the parks. This show's greatest claim to fame is that 'NSync star Joey Fatone once played the role of Wolfman.

Fear Factor Live

Don't try this at home! Put yourself to the test at the most extreme audience participation show ever—Fear Factor Live!

Don't try this at home! Put yourself to the test at the most extreme audience participation show ever—Fear Factor Live!

Fear Factor Live replaces the Wild Wild Wild West Stunt show that ran at Universal Orlando for many years. Similar to the TV show on NBC, you will watch contestants compete in several physically demanding stunts and unpleasant challenges. Before the show begins, the producer will select several children from the audience to help with the challenges. Don’t worry, they won’t be forced to drink anything gross. They are used for things like shooting the contestants with large water guns during the challenge.

The six selected participants are introduced to the audience and are then put through a variety of physically demanding challenges, until one contestant remains. There is also a part in the show where a few audience members will get a chance to experience drinking a pretty disgusting concoction. Keep in mind that you must be pre-selected before the show to participate in any of the challenges. Just see an attraction host for instructions on how to sign up to participate. This is another excellent live show at Universal and can be enjoyed by all members of the family (provided they're not too squeamish).

Universal Orlando has closed its Fear Factor attraction at this time.
